Yvette Champions Home Energy Saving Scheme

Mr Pursglove and Warm FrontLocal MP Yvette Cooper met with users of the Warm Front scheme to find out how home energy improvements are making life more comfortable while reducing heating costs for families across the area.

Yvette learnt more about Warm Front’s impact when she visited Mr and Mrs Pursglove who have recently benefited from the Scheme with a new high efficiency boiler, radiators, and thermostatic controls installed in their home by Warm Front.

The scheme, set up in 2000 and set to end next year, aims to help low-income families, the elderly and those with children under 5 to insulate their home using cavity wall insulation and energy efficient heating systems can cut household fuel bills by around £300 - £600 a year, with qualifying families receiving a grant of up to £3,500 to install a package of heating and insulation measures.

Yvette Cooper MP said:

“It was lovely to meet Mr and Mrs Pursglove and I was surprised to learn just how much families can save by taking advantage of the scheme.

“However, I’m concerned that from next year these grants will no longer be available, so it’s important that people apply and get the work done this year ready for next winter.”
