Victory for Redhill student in MP Christmas card competition

Local Redhill Junior’s student Heidi Maw was awarded a special prize from local MP Yvette Cooper as the winner of the MP’s annual Christmas card competition.

Miss Maw, of class 3P, took part in the annual competition along with other pupils from Redhill Juniors as well as schools in Knottingley, Pontefract and Normanton. Her winning entry was chosen by Ms Cooper and has been made up into a card that will be send out to over 1000 people across the area and the country.

Yvette Cooper MP said:

“Every year I invite schools to take part in the competition and the pictures that the children design are fantastic. It’s always a tough choice and I’d have loved to pick them all, but I chose Heidi’s picture because it is so lively and had local landmarks like Pontefract Castle on it as well as a big Father Christmas off to deliver his presents. It’s been made up into a card and I’ll be sending it out to friends, family and others round here and across the country.”
