Head of Communications and Campaigns for Yvette Cooper MP
Yvette Cooper MP is recruiting for a communications and campaigns role, based in Westminster, to lead on her public engagement - including national media, social media and campaigning work.
Brexit and wider national challenges make this a crucial period in Parliament and in British politics – it is an important and stimulating time to work for a senior Labour politician. Yvette leads the Home Affairs Select Committee while speaking out and campaigning more widely on a range of issues, from Brexit to Labour Towns, from Sure Start centres to abuse online.
The Head of Communications and Campaigns role will require: strong communications skills; experience of working with the media, including the Westminster lobby; experience of social media campaigns and communications; and an instinct for news. An understanding of the home affairs brief is desirable but not essential.
Core responsibilities include:
- developing, placing and responding to news stories
- developing social media campaigns and Yvette’s profile on the issues she is working on
- managing an effective stakeholder engagement programme
Development opportunities include the potential to be the Director of a new campaign following previous work on Reclaim the Internet.
We will consider full time, part-time, term-time only, job share and flexible working applications.
Competitive salary subject to experience (comparable to Labour Party pay scales)
