Yvette is campaigning to make sure that all veterans in Pontefract,
Knottingley and Castleford receive their Veteran's Lapel Badge.
The Veteran Badges are being issued by the Ministry of Defence and
honour the enormous contribution made by veterans in the last century.
Launching the campaign, Yvette said: “These men and women
served our country with such distinction over the years. The Veteran
Badges are a token of our appreciation and I want every veteran
living in Pontefract, Castleford and Knottingley to get their badge
and wear it with pride.”
The following groups are entitled to claim
their Veteran Badge:
All Men and Women enlisted before
31st December 1994.
All those who served as Merchant Navy
Seamen, Home Guard, Polish Forces under UK Command and members
of the Cyprus Regiment during the Second World War
War widows and widowers who receive
a War Widows/Widowers Pension.
Veterans of the Suez Canal Zone 1951
- 54.
Those on national service 1939 - 45.
