This is Yvette's department's website. The Department for Communities and Local Government was formed in May 2006 and took over most of the responsibilities of the Office of the Deputy Prime Minister. It is responsible for policy on housing, planning, communities, regeneration, regional and local government, the fire service and equalities. The site is here to promote the UK overseas, communicate Government news and information, explain the role and history of Number 10 as a building and an institution, and demonstrate the Government's commitment to new technology.

The web site was launched on 10 February 2000. In the first full year (January - December 2001) the website had over 3.2 million visitor sessions. Around 46.4 million pages of content were viewed by visitors last year.
