Carleton High schoolsBefore the election we successfully fought for extra investment in our High Schools. The previous Labour government promised £55 million for new local school development. The picture to the left shows the plans for Carleton High School.

But the government has axed this cash which is a massive blow to local families.

I want our children learning in twenty first century facilities. Thanks to Labour's investment, gone are the days when children went to school with leaky roofs and a textbook to share. But it’s time our towns had their turn for new school buildings.

That's why I am furious with Michael Gove's decision to scrap the BSF programme and deny Carleton High School the money they need to rebuild their school after the fire that destroyed it.

We the undersigned believe that our children need and deserve new school buildings and facilities. It is wrong of the government to cut funding to the Building Schools for the Future (BSF) programme. This investment is for the rebuilding of Carleton High School.

We oppose the Tory – Liberal Democrat government’s decision to cut funding for BSF.
