Campaign Against Tax Credit changes

In April the Tories are cutting tax credits by £4.4 billion. This means that over 3 million working families will lose an average of £1,000 a year. Most parents who will be hit are already working really hard - the Tories just don't get that tax credits are paid alongside wages to make sure families are better off in work than on the dole.

Over half of working families round here get tax credits. Across our area there are nearly 10,000 kids whose families rely on tax credits so they can keep up with rising bills and costs.

During the election campaign David Cameron promised he would not cut child tax credit or child benefit - yet now he is cutting both. These Tory lies are a betrayal of hard working families. Parents who work hard are being hardest hit, yet the richest estates in the country are getting another tax cut. It is deeply unfair.

We therefore call on the Government to halt these damaging changes immediately that will leave families in the Five Towns worse off.

Working people are doing just that.. working. Tax Credits effectively subsidise employers who’s employees are often on Zero Hours contracts. Now Osborne comes out like the executioner and wields his bloody axe on everyone, regardless. Yes, we have many people who ‘massage’ the Benefits system. But why penalise the people who are trying their best to be responsible citizens? Justice? Haha!

Tax credits doesn’t make us rich and we don’t have luxuries. It helps us pay bills and keep a roof over our childrens heads..our wage doesn’t stretch very far, without tax credits we will struggle immensely to keep up with all the bill payments.
