UK Coal are currently drawing up plans for the site
and I have argued that jobs must be at the heart of their
plans and that they must include a range of investment opportunities,
not just retail. I want to see at least as many jobs created
on the site as existed below ground

Pontefract Cricket
Club is an important part of the community in Pontefract.
It was founded in 1860 and has hundreds of teams over the
years. I am backing the campaign to save the club.

In September 2003 I joined representatives
from Carleton High School and Kings High School in Pontefract
to add my support for their bid for specialist school status.
